The whole story

My father was born in 1954. He died in 2020.

Bartlett was his name long before it was a shop, and that is the actual reason this exists. I wanted the name somewhere it would keep going. Not on a plaque or a page nobody visits, but on something people put on in the morning and look at forty times a day. A watch seemed like the right object for that.

That is the sentimental part, and it is the only sentimental part. Everything below is just how the business works.

What I actually do

Most watch shops at this price tell you a story about heritage, master watchmakers and Swiss engineering. Almost none of it is true, and you can usually tell. I am not going to do that, because the one thing here that is true matters too much to bury under things that are not.

So, plainly: I look for quartz watches that punch well above what they cost, with steel bracelets, textured dials and cases with some real presence, and I buy them in small batches. Every watch in the shop is under $100 CAD.

I am not the manufacturer. I choose the watches, I hold them in stock, and I stand behind them. That is the whole business.

Where your order actually comes from

Fredericton, New Brunswick. Not a warehouse in another country, not a dropship link that quietly forwards your order somewhere else. The watches sit on a shelf here, and when you order one it gets packed and taken to the post office by the same person who picked it out.

That is why the stock counts are small and honest. If it says one left, there is one left.

What comes in the package

  • The watch.
  • A bracelet sizing tool, so you can take links out yourself without paying a jeweller.
  • A thank-you card.

No lacquered presentation case, no certificate of authenticity. Those cost money I would rather leave out of the price.

Why you can send it back easily

Buying a watch you have only seen on a phone screen is a gamble. Case sizes read differently in person, and a dial colour that looked deep navy in a video can turn out brighter on your wrist.

So: 30 days from delivery to send it back for a full refund, and 14 days for a straight replacement if it arrives faulty or stops working on its own. Try it on with your real clothes. That is the point.

Who you are talking to

I'm Raphael. I run this shop on my own, so there is no support team and no chatbot. Messages sent through the contact page come to me, and I answer them myself, usually within a business day.

If something goes wrong with your order, say so. It is a small enough operation that it will get fixed, and the name on it is one I am not willing to have people think badly of.
